Me: "Javen! What are you doing?"

Javen: "Look at me! I'm being a circus man doing dangerous things!"

Me: "Get down from there! Climb down carefully."

Javen: "Ok, I will get down VERY, VERY carefully. Watch how I do it . . . "

One Year Ago

One year ago today, we first held our Malachi. Parenting this boy has made for a year of laughter and tears, struggles and joys, exhaustion and elation, beauty and awe, and a painful and beautiful process of dying a little more to self and being drawn closer to the One who created this precious boy and placed him in our family. Our lives and family will never be the same and I am so grateful to be his mommy. Happy Gotcha Day, Malachi!

If Only I Could Sleep This Soundly

I didn't think anything could top Malachi's awesome sleep positions, in which his tush is usually WAY up in the air. . .

Until we discovered Javen at 11pm sleeping in his room (which does have two perfectly good beds in it, by the way) like this . . .

And then the flashes from my camera caused him to stir a bit and rearrange himself from his floor/chair hybrid position to this . . .

It's the Little Things

Last week held a big moment for Javen. The boys LOVE lizards these days, and usually when we go outside I will catch one for them to hold. Last week, Javen caught his first lizard ALL BY HIMSELF with no help from Mommy. He was not even phased when it bit him (and if you saw him last week, i'm sure he has already told you all about every detail of the chase and capture). :)

He could not have been more pleased about his accomplishment and was quick to share his moment of glory with Malachi, giving his little brother a chance to hold it for a moment before letting it go.

Have I mentioned before that I love spending my moments and my days with these two little characters? I'm eternally grateful and in awe that the Lord chose me to be the mother of these sweet boys.
